Digital Desk: In a significant development in the ongoing assault case, the Sivasagar Police conducted a raid on Monday at the official residence of the suspended Additional Police Superintendent (APS), Subhalakshmi Dutta, in Nazira.
Sources indicate that the accused police officer was taken to Nazira, where her government quarter is located, as part of the raid operation. The raid, conducted in the presence of the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), aimed to uncover crucial evidence supporting the serious allegations leveled against Subhalakshmi Dutta.
During the search, several items related to the incident in which her domestic help was allegedly assaulted were recovered. The victim, Anima Praja, had lodged a complaint against Dutta, alleging attempted murder and severe torture during her tenure as a domestic help at Dutta's Nazira residence.
On September 9, Dutta surrendered to the Sivasagar Police, following her absconding since August 26, when the case was initially registered against her. She presented herself outside the office of the Superintendent of Police in Sivasagar district. Subsequently, she was remanded to three-day police custody, indicating the seriousness of the allegations against her.
The raid on Dutta's residence marks a significant step in the ongoing investigation, as the recovered evidence is expected to play a pivotal role in establishing the facts of the case. The Sivasagar Police have assured the public of a thorough and impartial investigation, ensuring justice is served.
The case continues to attract public attention, highlighting the importance of transparency and accountability in cases involving alleged abuse of authority. Further developments in the case are eagerly awaited.
