Digital Desk: At the Dhodar Ali locality of Mariani, of Jorhat in Assam three members of a family were killed in a horrific road accident when a scooty they were riding crashed with a Tata Sumo head-on.
Meanwhile, locals of Mariani barricaded the road and organised protests against the Sumo driver, prompting the Nagaland government to issue a travel alert warning inhabitants not to use the route.
“In view of the unfortunate accident involving Mokokchung-bound Sumo from Dimapur at Dhodar Ali in Assam on Monday, thereby causing the death of three persons, the situation prevailing in the current scenario is said to be tense,” said the advisory issued by Dharam Raj, additional deputy commissioner of Mangkolemba, Nagaland.

On Monday, a Tata Sumo was on its way to Mokokchung from Dimapur when it collided with a scooter near Dhodar Ali in Mariani (between Mariani and Golaghat), Assam.
The Tata Sumo with the licence plate NL 02 T 2114 was on its way to Mokokchung from Dimapur in Nagaland when it collided with the motorbike with the licence plate AS 03 Z 5886. According to sources, the mother, daughter, and son-in-law of the scooter riders deceased on the scene.
“All the Nagaland-bound/originating travellers via Assam are advised to avoid taking the said route until the prevailing situation is calmed. Further, all the Mokokchung-bound travellers may take the
Golaghat-Merapani-Champang-Sonowal route to avoid unnecessary harassment in Mariani, Assam,” the advisory said
