Assam has achieved the fourth position because of its natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and warm embrace of Assamese hospitality.
New York Times said, "With its breathtaking natural beauty and rich cultural heritage, Assam is a destination that is waiting to be explored." It is expected that this recognition will help Assam Tourism to grow and invite global travelers to the state.
People from all around the world come to visit various destinations of Assam to experience its breathtaking landscapes. Two world heritage sites of Assam, Kaziranga National Park and Manas National Park, and Kamakhya Temple have witnessed lakhs of visitors from different parts of the world in recent years. According to a report, Assam has attracted over 78 lakh tourists including 26,000 foreign visitors between 2023-24. The tourist footfall is expected to increase in the year 2025. The Guwahati Airport has also set a record by handling the highest-ever international and domestic
passengers, boosting Assam's tourism as well as the economy in the year 2024.
Speaking to an Assam-based English Newspaper, the Managing Director of the Assam Tourism Development Corporation, Padmapani Bora said that the law and order improvement in the state is one of the reasons for the increase of tourists in Assam.
