According to meteorologists, rain is expected between 2-3 pm and again after 9 pm, raising concerns about the match's continuity.

In a deviation from the scorching heat and high humidity experienced in recent days, Tuesday morning brought a more pleasant atmosphere with overcast skies.

Initially, the forecast had raised alarm with a 100 percent chance of rain predicted for Tuesday morning. However, there is some relief as the local Meteorological Department now suggests the possibility of showers in the afternoon and late evening. This raises doubts about the possibility of a full 50-over match taking place.

Despite the threat of heavy rain, the ground staff at Colombo's R Premadasa Stadium has garnered praise for their efficiency in preparing the outfield, even under challenging conditions. India's captain, Rohit Sharma, and star batsman Virat Kohli both commended their efforts.

Colombo, accustomed to September showers, has witnessed heavy rainfall over the past 10 days. In response, R Premadasa Stadium's groundstaff has bolstered its workforce, employing approximately 140 personnel who work tirelessly for up to 18 hours a day to ensure the Asia Cup proceeds as planned.

Both India and Sri Lanka have already secured a win each in the Super 4 stage of the tournament, with another victory potentially securing their place in the final. India's dominant 228-run win over Pakistan on Monday has boosted their net run rate to an impressive 4.560, providing them with some breathing space even in the event of a washout. Their upcoming match against Bangladesh on Friday also offers a chance to secure a spot in the final.

However, India faces a formidable challenge in the form of Sri Lanka, who have won an astounding 13 consecutive matches. Despite missing four of their first-choice pacers, Sri Lanka's bowlers, including Matheesha Pathirana and Maheesh Theekshana, have delivered stellar performances.
