DC vs RCB: Virat Kohli scripts history, becomes first batter to achieve massive milestone in IPL

Digital Desk: In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Virat Kohli, the star player of Royal Challengers Bangalore, became the first batter to reach 7000 runs on Saturday. Kohli hit this milestone when he reached 12 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, during the game against the Delhi Capitals, 

Kohli had scored 6988 runs in 233 IPL games before the match against DC, averaging 36.61 runs per game. Kohli, though, has been in excellent form in IPL 2023, amassing 376 runs in just 9 games.

With a record-setting 973 runs in the 2016 season of the Indian Premier League, Kohli is the top run scorer in the league. With a top score of 113, he has also amassed 46 half-centuries and 5 centuries.

Kohli's fortunes changed with his first T20I century against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup last year, despite having his worst IPL season in ten years in 2022. He scored a century against Bangladesh to cap out 2022 and two more hundreds against Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series at home to start 2023.

With a magnificent 186 against Australia in the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Ahmedabad, Kohli finally reached the century mark in a Test match.

In the Royal Challengers Bangalore team's season-opening match against the Mumbai Indians at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Kohli's excellent play continued. He top-scored for the hosts with a 49-ball 82 and combined 148 runs with an opening partner and skipper Faf du Plessis as they chased 172.
