During an interview, Parag openly admitted that he would have been contributed in the T20 World Cup if he were a participant.
Digital Desk: The T20 World Cup 2024 has kicked off, featuring the opening match between the USA and Canada to mark the commencement of the month-long tournament. However, the Indian cricket team will have to bide their time before entering the fray, as Rohit Sharma's squad is set to face Ireland in their inaugural match on June 5. While Indian supporters eagerly anticipate their team's performance, Riyan Parag, the all-rounder from Rajasthan Royals, has expressed his disinterest in watching the T20 World Cup this time around.
Despite being considered a potential candidate for the T20 World Cup squad before the final 15-man roster was revealed, Parag showcased an impressive performance during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Nonetheless, he did not secure a spot in India's squad for the tournament, not even as a reserve.
During an interview, Parag openly admitted that he would have been contributed in the T20 World Cup if he were a participant. However, this year, his enthusiasm for the event is notably diminished.
"It will be a biased answer (prediction on top four teams) but to be very honest I don't even want to watch the World Cup. I'll just see who is winning it at the end and I'll be happy. When I will play the World Cup, I will think about top four and all of that," Parag said in a chat with The Bharat Army.
Parag has consistently been a figure of interest, frequently making comments in interviews and on social media that have attracted trolling. However, during this year's IPL, he relied more on his batting prowess to make an impact, yielding impressive results. Recently, the cricketer from Assam expressed his aspirations to represent Team India, asserting that at some juncture, the selectors would need to consider him.
"Inevitably, you'll have to give me a chance, won't you? That's my belief; I am determined to represent India. The timing is inconsequential to me," Parag conveyed to PTI during an interview.
