Ind vs Ban 2nd Test: India beats Bangladesh by 3 wickets, sweep series 2-0

Digital Desk: India defeated Bangladesh by three wickets in the second Test to win the two-match series on Christmas, thanks in part to Ravichandran Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer's calmness.

Ashwin and Iyer survived the storm that Mehidy Hasan Miraz started when India was down seven wickets. To win the match by 71 runs and sweep Bangladesh 2-0, the Indian pair kept their composure and put up an unbroken partnership.

Cheteshwar Pujara was named the player of the series and Ravichandran Ashwin was named the player of the match for his amazing performance in the match.

While attempting to reach the 145-run target, India quickly crashed. At stumps on the third day, Mehidy struck three times to keep Bangladesh's chances of tying the two-test series alive. India posted a score of 45/4.

Shakib Al Hasan's controversial two-wicket dismissal of acting captain KL Rahul meant that his series struggles continued. Then Mehidy quickly sent Virat Kohli (1), Shubman Gill (7), and Cheteshwar Pujara (6) back to the locker room. With night watchman Jaydev Unadkat to finish the day, India promoted Axar Patel to number four.

India lost its night watchman Unadkat on Day 4 after Shakib pinned him in front for 13 seconds. The visitors lost Rishabh Pant (9) and Axar (34) in the span of nine balls after the dismissal, which sparked a wave of wickets.

 

Bangladesh earlier posted 231 in their second innings owing to 50s from Litton Das and Zakir Hasan. As Bangladesh lost early wickets, including Shakib for 13, Zakir, who had a century in the first Test, managed to hold one end. Umesh Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat, and Mohammed Siraj, three speedy players from India, made sure to keep the hosts on their toes.

While Litton made an effort to keep the scoreboard moving, Siraj bowled him for 73 just as he was about to score large. The tail-enders were then dispatched by Axar and Ashwin, who finished with three and two wickets, respectively.
