NEWS UPDATE on Serious Security Threat to Virat Kohli, RCB Cancel Practice Session: Report
RCB skipped practice due to Ahmedabad heat, no terror threat
According to sources speaking to IndiaToday.in, RCB opted to delay their practice session due to the intense afternoon heat and intended to conduct a session later in the day.
Digital Desk: Ahead of the Eliminator match in the Indian Premier League 2024 between RCB and RR, speculation surfaced in the media that RCB had called off their practice session due to a perceived threat to Virat Kohli's security. However, as per the IndiaToday.in reports RCB's decision to cancel the practice session was attributed to the scorching heat rather than any security concerns.
According to sources speaking to IndiaToday.in, RCB opted to delay their practice session due to the intense afternoon heat and intended to conduct a session later in the day. However, logistical constraints arose as the floodlights were only available until 6:30 pm, leading to the eventual cancellation of the session on Wednesday, May 22.
A prominent source at the Ahmedabad stadium clarified, "Initially, the practice was scheduled from 2 pm to 5 pm, but it was later rescheduled from 4 pm to 6 pm. We informed the team that floodlights would only be available after 6:30 pm. While this was feasible, the soaring temperature of 45 degrees Celsius prompted them to prioritize player health and safety by refraining from practicing. There were no security-related issues whatsoever."
"We even proposed providing them with an indoor practice facility, but they chose to skip the session due to the heat," the reports added.
In the IPL 2024 playoffs, RCB has displayed remarkable form, securing six consecutive victories to stage an extraordinary comeback in the tournament. Their recent triumph over CSK by more than 17 runs propelled them into the playoffs, setting the stage for a showdown against RR on Wednesday. Should they emerge victorious, RCB will contend with SRH on the 24th in their pursuit of a spot in the tournament's final.
