New Delhi: All the six Olympic medalists and Men’s hockey team will be felicitated in the national capital on Monday evening.
The Sports Authority of India (SAI) will conduct the special felicitation ceremony at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium at 6.30 pm.
Reportedly, Prime Minister will be interacting with the medalists through video conference.
India, breaking the previous record of six medals in London 2012 Olympics Games, in 2020 Tokyo Olympics India earned seven medals which is the biggest Olympic medal haul.
The administrator of Dhyan Chand Stadium, Bhushan Prasad, said, “The Olympic medalists will be arriving at New Delhi on August 9 and will be felicitated at a function held at Major Dhyan Chand. National Stadium, opposite India Gate, New Delhi.”
“The felicitation ceremony will begin at 6.30 pm onwards and will be attended virtually by Prime Minister of India.” added.
Star javelin throw athlete Neeraj Chopra earned historic gold in the Tokyo Olympics, 2020.
The two silver medals were won by Mirabai Chanu (weightlifting) and Ravi Kumar Dahiya (Wrestling).
While, the bronze medals were won by PV Sindhu (Badminton), Lovlina Borgohain (Welterweight Boxing), and Bajrang Punia in Wrestling. Moreover, the Indian Men’s Hockey team also bagged a bronze medal for India after 41 years.
Moreover, former Olympic player and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur will be also present at the event.
