Digital Desk: Recently, the national football team captain Sunil Chhetri was invited by the BCCI. Now the question of the day is why the Board of Cricket Council of India (BCCI) called the national captain of the football team.
The core aim of BCCI and the National Cricket Association (NCA) was to ensure that each of the cricketers from the region could come in touch with the iconic personalities in the field of football and gather necessary experience.
Even though the game of cricket has gained huge popularity in India, it has still not been able to take the place of football in respect of sports for the mass. Still now, in India, the game of football is very popular and children in most of the bylanes and fields play football.
In India, football is considered as a sport of the public. We all know that the game of cricket is considered as a gentleman's game. Sunil Chhetri and Virat Kohli share a very cordial relationship with each other. Chhetri also interacted with VVS Laxman, National Cricket Association (NCA), for a F2F interaction.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah recently twitted, "This initiative by @BCCI will give young and budding talents equal opportunity to hone their skills and represent India across formats. "
"NE has enormous potential in sports and the board will keep no stone unturned to ensure that we are able to tap the best talent for the country," Shah added.
"It was a fantastic session as cricketers got to know from an icon in Indian sport as to what kind of hard work and sacrifice is required to reach the top," a BCCI official privy to the development told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
