Digital Desk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022, starting October 16 in Australia due to a back injury. The Indian Cricket Board promised to name Bumrah's replacement as soon as possible.
Due to a back ailment, Bumrah was unable to participate in a three-match series against South Africa in September and October. The team management was hoping that the best fast bowler would recuperate in time and be prepared for India's World Cup campaign, head coach Rahul Dravid had stated on October 1.
Dravid steadfastly declined to elaborate on the specifics and severity of the back issue.
Bumrah left the India team for the first T20I in Thiruvananthapuram on September 28 and went to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
In a release on Monday, BCCI stated that "the decision was made after a thorough examination and in consultation with the specialists."
