Elon Musk fired 90% Twitter India’s Employees, Claims Service is too slow in India
Musk has requested staff to report back to work and put in 40 hours per week because he has huge changes planned for Twitter. Musk has eliminated the work-from-home policy at Twitter, unless there is an exemption, just like he did at Tesla.

Digital Desk: Since the billionaire, Elon Musk took charge of Twitter, he and the remaining staff have been working nonstop to provide the finest experience possible. Musk thinks that several nations, particularly India and Indonesia, experience very slow Twitter app speeds. The Twitter CEO wants to resolve the problem quickly. Musk laid off roughly 90% of the Twitter India workers during the major layoffs.

Musk offered users an apology earlier this week for the Twitter app's "slow" performance in some areas compared to others. "I would like to apologise for Twitter's extreme lag in several nations. He recently tweeted, "App is making >1000 improperly batched RPCs only to render a home timeline!

While several Twitter employees argued that Musk's assessment of the platform's performance is erroneous, Musk claimed that he and his team are attempting to speed it up. The billionaire apparently doesn't like to hear recommendations or criticism because he dismissed engineers for criticising Musk on Twitter. Additionally, Musk terminated several workers for criticising him in private Slack groups.

According to Musk, the Twitter app is now not operating as it should in various countries, including India. Musk said that there are regions of the world where it takes 30 seconds for Twitter to refresh, saying "Twitter refreshes in roughly 2 seconds in the US, compared to India where it may take about 10 to 20 seconds." The billionaire thinks "poor batching/verbose comms" may be to blame for the slowdown.

Musk tweeted, “Twitter is very slow in India, Indonesia & many other countries. This is a fact, not a “claim". 10 to 15 secs to refresh timeline tweets is common. Sometimes, it doesn’t work at all, especially on Android phones. The only question is how much delay is due to bandwidth/latency/app."

There are 1200 "microservices" server side, of which 40 are critical to Twitter working at all, according to the server control team, Musk said in response to Meta CTO Mike Schroepfer who questioned Musk's "1200 RPCs" claim. In another tweet, Musk noted that "trimming down that 1200 number, reducing data usage, serializsd trips & simplifying app are all needed to improve the speed of use."
