Amitabh Bachchan admitted to have registered to Twitter Blue after his blue tick vanished after paying the fees.
Digital
Desk: Elon Musk's Twitter is undergoing significant changes, with
the microblogging platform lately removing the blue tick of accounts that
refuse to subscribe to Twitter Blue. Musk has repeatedly stated his disdain for
legacy blue ticks (accounts that received a blue tick under Twitter's old
verification mechanism), and disclosed in November 2022 that the blue tick will
come with a cost to users. Musk, true to his word, ultimately removed blue
ticks off all people who refused to pay the $8 monthly fee on April 20. The
process of eliminating old blue ticks began on April 1, when The New York Times
lost its Twitter verification badge on that date.

blue tick
Musk,
though, began reintroducing the 'precious' tick symbol to accounts with more
than 1 million followers after removing blue ticks from seemingly all
non-subscribers. As a result, many celebrities who had previously lost their
blue ticks on Twitter had them return for free. Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan
is one of the celebrities who received his blue tick back for free.

Padukone, and Hrithik Roshan have had their blue ticks revoked due to
non-payment of fees. However, all of these celebrities have since been verified
on Twitter.
Some celebrities, on the
other hand, who did subscribe to Twitter Blue and paid for their blue tick now
appear to be at a disadvantage.

that people know his account is legitimate. The great actor also stated that he
makes the request with his palms folded.
While celebrities such as
Big B consented to pay the monthly charge for Twitter's blue tick despite
having millions of followers, other celebrities who refused to pay the fee also
received their blue tick back. This appears to be unfair to celebrities who
have already subscribed to Twitter Blue, as even if they had refused to pay
Twitter's price, they would have received their Blue Tick nonetheless.
For the unversed, Twitter
Blue subscription costs Rs 900 per month for mobile users. On the web, the
membership costs Rs 650 per month or Rs 6,800 per year.
Twitch
streamer Hasan Piker, journalist and author Kara Swisher, former J&K Chief
Minister Omar Abdullah, and Stephen King are among the celebrities who have
earned the blue tick and confirmed that they did not pay for it. Also, accounts
of celebrities who have died reveal that they have subscribed to Twitter Blue,
since their blue tick has returned. These accounts include those of late actor
Chadwick Boseman, Michael Jackson, Kirstie Alley, John McAfee, Norm Macdonald,
and Kobe Bryant.
Twitter's blue tick was
originally considered a mark of authenticity because only significant persons
could obtain one by applying for it for free. However, anyone with enough money
may now purchase the blue tick. Some Twitter users argue that the blue tick is
no longer a sign of a valid account, but rather a symbol of Musk's fandom.
