Country's first private 5G network is launched at Bosch in Bengaluru by Airtel
The trial comes ahead of a 5G spectrum auction later this month and a battle between telecom and IT companies over spectrum allocation for private networks.

Digital Desk: The nation's first 5G private network was successfully tested by Bharti Airtel at Bosch Automotive Electronics' facility in Bengaluru.

The trial occurs in advance of a 5G spectrum auction this month amid a conflict between telecom and IT firms over the spectrum allocation for private networks.

Using the government-allocated trial spectrum, Airtel implemented two industrial-grade use cases at Bosch's facility for quality enhancement and operational efficiency. In both instances, automated operations fueled by 5G technology, such as mobile broadband and ultra-reliable low-latency communications, ensured faster scale-up and

Reduced downtimes, according to a statement released by the company on Friday.

The private network, which was set up as a test, can handle thousands of connected devices and provide a throughput of multiple GBPS.

"Airtel is committed to India's digital transformation and supporting the development of its enterprise as they seek to acquire global scale," said Ajay Chitkara, director and CEO of Airtel Business.

The low latency and dependable connectivity offered by the Airtel Private 5G network at our facility that was experienced during the proof of concept are enabling us to improve our efficiency and productivity, according to Subhash P, head of technical functions at Bosch Automotive Electronics India.

Using 5G will significantly reduce the amount of wired IT infrastructure and improve operational efficiency.
