WhatsApp Avatars is a feature that the instant messaging app is currently working on.
Digital Desk: WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, is reportedly developing a new feature.
According to WaBetaInfo, the platform is developing the ability to use an avatar as a profile photo. For those who are unfamiliar, WaBetaInfo is an online platform that reports on upcoming WhatsApp features.
WhatsApp now includes emojis, GIFs, stickers, and other features to make conversations more interesting.
According to reports, the social media platform is working on animated WhatsApp avatars inspired by emojis. Users of WhatsApp will be able to use them as a mask when making video calls. They can also be shared as stickers in both private and group chats.
Meta's other social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and even Facebook Messenger, provide users with 3D avatars. WhatsApp now appears to be getting this feature soon.
WaBetaInfo previously reported that the feature is in the works and will most likely be included in a future update. While the WhatsApp Avatars feature is still in development, users may soon be able to use these avatars as profile photos as well.
As per reports, users will be able to customize their avatars by selecting a background color for the profile photo. It also includes a screenshot of the upcoming feature from WhatsApp's Android beta.
However, the ability to customize the avatar profile photo will be available on the WhatsApp beta for iOS and Desktop beta, according to the company.
The report did not provide a timeline for when the feature is expected to be released, but it did state that because the feature is in its early stages of development, it may be released in the distant future.
In other news, group managers and members of WhatsApp iPhone beta version 22.16.0.75 can now see who has left or been removed from the group in the last 60 days (via WABetaInfo).
According to WaBetaInfo, the Meta-owned messaging app has added a new "See Past Participants" option under the list of current participants on the "Group information" page.
