Digital Desk: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination, also known as the IAS exam, is, without a doubt, one of the toughest examinations in India.
The UPSC exam is conducted once a year, and lakhs of candidates appear for it. However, only a few hundred of them managed to crack it. Here we will talk about a cricketer who had managed to clear the UPSC exam before donning the Team India jersey.
We're talking about Amay Khurasia, who was born in 1972. The former India batsman hails from Madhya Pradesh, and prior to making his ODI debut, he cleared the UPSC exam. Khurasia is currently posted in the Customs and Central Excise Department.
Khurasia started playing cricket at an early age and made his first-class cricket debut when he was 17 years old. Khurasia cleared the UPSC exam before making his international debut for India.
Amay Khurasiya made his debut for Team India in 1999 against Sri Lanka in the Pepsi Cup. Khurasia drew everyone's attention in his debut match, scoring 57 runs off 45 balls. Khurasia, however, failed to maintain his strong performance in other games, which ultimately resulted at the end of his international career after a few years.
Amay Khurasiya played in 12 one-day internationals for India, scoring 149 runs. Khurasia's last match was against Sri Lanka in 2001. Khurasia scored over 7,000 runs in 119 first-class matches for Madhya Pradesh. Khurasiya declared his retirement from first-class cricket on April 22, 2007.
