India steps down from Asian Under-22 Boxing Championship amid Covid-19 surge

Digital Desk: The Boxing Federation of India has decided to back off from the Asian Under-22 Championships for men and women in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The decision to withdraw the Indian teams from the game was taken due to the uprising of the third wave of Covid-19. However, the federation has stated that they are willing to participate in the championship if it is rescheduled for the times when the virus surge is under control.

Sources confirmed that a letter had been sent to the Asian Boxing Confederation and the tournament’s organizing committee confirming India’s withdrawal.
