According to Deputy Police spokesperson Archon Kraitong, "there are at least 34 fatalities, although details were still coming in."

Digital Desk: A mass shooting at a children's childcare center in Nongbua Lamphu town, a province in northeastern Thailand, has claimed at least 34 lives, including children, a police official confirmed on Thursday. Shortly after, the shooter shot himself.

According to the police, there were 22 kids among the victims.

According to Deputy Police spokesperson Archon Kraitong, "there are at least 34 fatalities, although details were still coming in."

Families of victims may be seen lamenting the loss of their loved ones in a video that is becoming viral online. The injured are being escorted to the ambulance by a few individuals.

Police searching for the shooter can be seen in another video.
The shooter was reportedly a former policeman. General Prayut Chan-ocha, the prime minister, had ordered a search for the shooter.

Despite the high percentage of gun ownership relative to certain other nations in the region and the prevalence of illegal weapons, mass shootings are uncommon in Thailand.

In a four-location shooting spree in 2020, a soldier enraged over a property deal gone bad killed at least 29 individuals and injured 57 more.
