Haji Shafiullah is said to have led the crowd.
Last year, at least three people were slain when reports of the Quran being purportedly desecrated during a Durga Puja pandal near Nanuar Dighi lake in Comilla town, Bangladesh, propagated on social media.
Similar instances have previously been recorded in Dhaka's Tipu Sultan Road and Chittagong's Kotwali.

He said, "We are disappointed that the UN remains silent about the plight of thousands of vulnerable Bangladeshi and Pakistani minorities. Many Hindu minority have lost their lives, their property, and have been raped, yet the United Nations can only reflect on Islamophobia."
