Former Nepali ambassador V.K Karna condemned China for intervening in Nepal's internal affairs

Former Nepali Ambassador to Denmark Vijay Kant Karna condemned China for obstructing in internal affairs of Nepal and clearly said Nepal to be cautious while receiving loans from China.

Digital Desk: Vijay Kant Karna, the former Nepali Ambassador to Denmark, condemned China for intervening in Nepal's internal affairs and encroaching on its land by referring to Srilankan economic crisis and clearing Nepal to be cautious while receiving loans from China.

While delivering his statement, Vijay said - "Most crucially, China's efforts and role in influencing the affirmation of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) grant from the United States should be interpreted as interference in Nepal's internal affairs through Nepali political parties.

In September 2017, the US Government's MCC signed a pact with the Government of Nepal with an intent to improve road quality, increase electricity availability and reliability, and facilitate cross-border electricity trade between Nepal and India–all of which will help to boost investments, promote economic growth, and eliminate poverty.

Karna is a professor at the department at Nepal's Tribhuvan University. In an interview with Khabarhub on Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi's visit to Nepal, he claimed that the Minister must promise Nepal that he will not intervene in the country's internal affairs.

Chinese Foreign Minister and State Councilor Wang Yi will travel on a three-day visit to the Himalayan country commencing March 25. This visit concerns a talk regarding the growing resentment in Nepal over Chinese investments and involvement.

"China has encroached on various parts of our northern border over the years, particularly in Dolakha and Humla," he continued.

Professor Vijay claimed, "I have heard that Nepal and China are making a framework agreement to implement various projects," Nepal's 2017 Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) agreement with China has yet to see the light of day. As a result, it is critical for Nepal to assess the situation in Sri Lanka, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and other African nations while negotiating the loan arrangement," Khabar Hub stated.

"We must be exceedingly cautious when receiving loans from China because the inability to pay them would be hugely damaging," he added.
