Digital Desk: A day after being shot in the leg, former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan addressed the country, claiming that four people plotted to assassinate him. He also claimed to have video proof and warned that if anything happened to him, the footage would be made public. 

Imran Khan sustained leg injuries and was taken to a hospital in Lahore. The 70-year-old cricketer-turned-politician named three people yesterday, including Prime Minister Shehbaaz Sharif.

"Four people planned to kill me, so I made a video and kept it outside. I instructed them that if something happened to me, the footage should be made public," former Pakistan PM Imran Khan said in his first address to the nation after the firing during his rally in Wazirabad, Pakistan yesterday.

"I knew a day before going to the rally that an assassination was planned against me in Wazirabad or Gujrat," Khan explained during a televised address while still being admitted to a hospital in Lahore.

"I've worked in government for three and a half years. I have contacts in agencies and institutions, and that is where I get my news," he added.

During his speech, Imran Khan slammed the PML-N and the PPP, saying, "People voted for me because they were fed up with them (but) the establishment decides that the time has now come to change and brings them back. This time, they were shocked that the people did not go along with those who stole for the past 40 years."

"I ask General Bajwa whether taking action against people in your institution will increase or decrease the institution's prestige. General Bajwa, we are not animals; please do not treat us as such. The people have risen. They will not accept robbers. In the last six months, I have witnessed the awakening of the nation," he said, referring to Pakistan Army General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

"Do you want to create a situation in a country like Iran or like Sri Lanka?"

Further, he said, "Chief Justice! What happened to me in 6 months, no country should do to any enemy. You have a big responsibility to save the country. Look into the eyes of the people on the streets; they want a Pakistan where they can live freely, where no one can oppress the weak."

Previously, PTI leaders named three people whom Imran Khan suspected were behind the attack on him. Aside from Pakistan's current Prime Minister, Khan also named the country's interior minister, Rana Sanaullah, and Major General Faisal Naseer.

"A short while ago, Imran Khan told us to issue this statement on his behalf because he believes this was done at the request of three people: Shehbaz Sharif, Rana Sanaullah, and Maj Gen Faisal. He said he was receiving information and is saying this on that basis," PTI's Asad Umar and Mian Aslam Iqbal said.

A total of 15 people were injured and one person was killed in yesterday's firing at the rally. The suspected shooter who opened fire was caught by police, and he admitted that he wanted to kill Imran Khan.

"I was thinking about this while Azaan was going on and Imran Khan was taking out his container and making a noise. This did not sit well with my conscience. This was a sudden decision... I plotted against Imran Khan when he began his long march from Lahore. I've made up my mind not to leave him alive," the shooter stated in a social media video.

Notably, Imran Khan was ousted from power by a vote of confidence in April of this year. Khan stated that his government would never have lost the no-trust vote. "...However, they (the coalition leaders) used the money to achieve success."
