Google celebrates its 23rd birthday with a unique doodle

California: American multinational technology company Google turns 23 on Monday (September 27, 2021). It celebrates the occasion with a special doodle on its homepage, featuring a cake with ‘23’ written on top of it, with a birthday candle substituting for ‘L’ in ‘Google’.

On September 4, 1998, Google was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who were PhD students at Stanford University in California.

For the first seven years, google observed its birthday on September 4, but later it decided to shift the celebration to September 27 to match the announcement of the record number of pages that this search engine was indexing.

Actually, in 2004 google went public and was reorganized as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alphabet Inc. in 2015. Today, the search engine enables search in more than 150 languages around the globe.

Moreover, the history of doodle dates back to 1998, to a month before Google was founded. The first doodle was on the long-running “Burning Man” event in Black Rock City, Nevada.

On October 24, 2015, replacing its co-founder Larry page, Sundar Pichai was appointed as the CEO of Google. Page in the meantime took over the same position at Alphabet Inc.

On December 3, 2019, Pichai became the CEO of Alphabet as well.
