New Delhi: India origin Twitter’s Chief Technology Officer Parag Agarwal took over the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Twitter following Jack Dorsey’s resignation after 16 years.
In a letter posted on his Twitter account, Dorsey said he was “really sad…yet really happy” about leaving the company and that it was his decision.
Dorsey also, in a statement, said, “I’ve decided to leave Twitter because I believe the company is ready to move on from its founders. My trust in Parag as Twitter’s CEO is deep. His work over the past 10 years has been transformational. I’m deeply grateful for his skill, heart, and soul. It’s his time to lead.”

However, Dorsey will remain on the board until his term expires in 2022.
India origin and the new CEO of the microblogging site Parag Agarwal completed his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and hold a PhD in computer science from Stanford University.
Reports said Agrawal completed a research internship at AT&T, Microsoft and Yahoo before he joined Twitter.
He joined Twitter in 2011 and has been in the position of CTO of Twitter since 2017. In Dorsey’s departure, he will also become a member of the board now.
According to a report by Bloomberg, at 37, Agrawal is now the youngest CEO in the S&P 500, as he is just a few months younger than Mark Zuckerberg.
