Digital Desk: Liam Payne, the former singer from the band One Direction, died on Wednesday evening at the age of 31, after he fell from the third floor of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires. Hotel witnesses stated that Payne was acting bizarrely in the hotel lobby and threw his laptop on the floor. Afterward, he was dragged to his room.

He had recently been in Argentina for a Niall Horan concert the ex-member of One Direction band, so there was a brief reunion of the project. The former One Direction singer Payne, who joined the band from X-Factor at the age of 16, was battling with different problems, including recent accusations from his ex-fiancée Maya Henry that he abandoned her after demanding she have an abortion. They had called off their engagement earlier this year in 2022.

Payne died from a skull fracture that he received from a fall, he is a father to a 7-year-old son, Bear Grey Payne for British musician Cheryl (Cheryl Cole). Liam has been unique and can easily be described as exceptional not only in his voice which was unquestionably matched with talent but more so in his character, growth, and timely reintroduction to a changing world of music.

In 2010, when a teenage Liam Payne auditioned for the “X Factor”, people could definitely see that the boy was something extremely unique. Despite the first solo audition in 2008 did not make him an overnight star, the second shot turned him into an overnight success from a potential hopeful talent. Moreover, luck favored this young talented boy and paired him with four other boys, Harry, Niall,Zayn, and Louis then the boy band, one direction came about in 2010. The group didn’t take much time to become the anthem of the millennial generation

When One Direction emerged they were much more than just a pop group. They were a phenomenon. They decorated every teenager's room with these posters and playlists with their songs.

Liam’s rich baritone was the stable in their commendably balanced dual-voiced harmonies and whether in performance or in the course of being celebrated or interviewed, Liam was consistent. Yet there was always a touch of boy next door about him which made millions of viewers feel that we personally knew this guy.

As always, for any chapter, the conclusion is often the start of another new one. For Liam Payne that meant moving out on his own and exploring the potential of a solo artist that could flex his musical muscles. It was this way until his first solo single, “Strip That Down” for which he collaborated in the songwriting process with Ed Sheeran. This was clearly demonstrated by the mixing of an infectious beat and a fully mature lyric, something which Liam proved was beyond him.

Even though Liam started off in One Direction, he was not shy to find his niche in pop and R&B music. Tunes like ‘Bedroom Floor’and ‘Stack It Up’ had Liam display a different, grown-up personality that dares to ditch the boy band's image and be a new man.

The British singer  Liam didn’t just sit back and relax after getting famous, he made sure that the world saw the new him. His music evolved to reflect more of what he himself was going through – love, break-ups, and a search for one’s identity – fans listened to him since they were young.

Life is full of struggles and this wasn’t lost on Liam either and his young life hadn’t been free of struggles. From his childhood, he has been in the limelight, so adjusting from the world stage to the private world is very hard, especially when struggling with personal issues.

It is not fun to be exposed in an industry that sometimes has some unrealistic standards set for the artist,  but Liam has been bold in facing his problems fearlessly. He was never shy about discussing his struggle with drug and alcohol problems and other mental health issues, everything that is relevant to nowadays’ society. Encouraging everyone to open up about the necessity of mental health, Liam is a strong reminder that everyone is human. Liam Payne is not only a singer he is also the embodiment of one’s childhood highlighting the double bar progression and staying true to oneself.
