Mukesh Ambani is now world’s richest sports owner, beats Steve Ballmer

Ambani surpassed Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer to reclaim the top rank.

Digital Desk: Apart from retaining his position as Asia's richest person in the Forbes Billionaire 2023 list, Mukesh Ambani, owner of the Mumbai Indians cricket franchise, has also become the richest sports owner in the Forbes Billionaire 2023 list, which was issued on 4 April.

Ambani surpassed Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer to reclaim the top rank. Yet, Ambani's company Reliance Industries' share price has dropped 3% in the last year- though not as much as shares of Microsoft, where Ballmer served as CEO from 2000 to 2014.

Ambani's net worth was $83.4 billion as of 10 March 2023, when Forbes locked in net worth for the 2023 World's Billionaires list, compared to Ballmer's net worth of $80.7 billion. Ballmer is currently the world's second-richest team owner.

Reliance just acquired a franchise in the inaugural Women's Premier League and also owns cricket franchises in South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.
