Digital Desk: During the ninth month of pregnancy, an expecting mother should relax and rest as much as possible. Makenna Myler, on the other hand, prefers to run like a pro athlete preparing for an event.
At a track meet in California, the heavily pregnant woman stunned onlookers by running a five-minute mile.
She exceeded the average mile time for a woman, which according to Runner's World is 10.40 minutes, for the second time.
People told her that she shouldn't train so hard while pregnant, according to the 30-year-old. But she ignored them.
"I assumed that training during pregnancy was quite common, but there are many people who believe it is not. Some of it is genetic - I know some amazing runners who became pregnant and their pelvis simply couldn't handle running "Makenna stated.
"People were amazed that I could do it while nine months pregnant when they couldn't even get off the couch. A lot of it has to do with how you prepare your body before becoming pregnant - I used to run before getting pregnant, which helped me "she went on to say.
Makenna runs for Asics and primarily competes in 5 km and 10 km races. She ran twice a day during her rigorous training regimen.
And now in her second pregnancy, she smashed her previous record by completing the mile in 5 minutes and 17 seconds.
"It started out as a joke the first time - we thought it would be funny, but it went totally viral. The responses weren't all positive - lots of people told me I shouldn't be exercising so hard," she added.
