Chef Vikas Khanna’s Bungalow Wins Michelin "Bib Gourmand" Award

This is not the first Michelin award that Chef Khanna has received...

Digital Desk: Bungalow, a restaurant in New York opened by Chef Vikas Khanna, has been awarded the prestigious Michelin "Bib Gourmand" award, which recognizes and presents quality dining experiences in great value. Through this award, Bungalow shows how modern Indian cuisine can be prepared in an innovative way yet remain true to its roots.

Warm and welcoming, the Bungalow features bright paintings, delicately carved bar panels, and soft pink walls, according to the Michelin Guide. Due to the restaurant's bustling atmosphere, reservations are difficult to come by because eager guests frequently line up early. Before savoring delicacies influenced by India's varied culinary traditions, guests can start their journey with unusual cocktails like mezcal spiced with Chile or tequila infused with turmeric. Particularly praised are signature dishes like the yogurt kebabs encased in crunchy kataifi pastry and the five-cheese kulcha.

This is not the first Michelin award that Chef Khanna has received. His restaurant, Junoon, located in Manhattan, received a Michelin star in 2011 and maintained that distinction for eight years in a row.  Bungalow's position as a premier Indian dining destination in New York City was further cemented when it was included in the New York Times' list of the 50 Best Restaurants in America. According to Chef Khanna, this honor is an acknowledgment of his culinary career and history.
