Digital Desk: India is gearing up to celebrate the 76th Republic Day on January 26. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Thursday that Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will be the chief guest at India's celebration of Republic Day. President Subianto will be on a tour to India from January 25 to 26. This will be his first visit to India as a President.
In a statement, MEA said, "At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto will pay a state visit to India during January 25-26. President Prabowo will also be the Chief Guest for India's 76th Republic Day celebrations."
The statement also said, "India and Indonesia share warm and friendly ties spanning over millennia."
His visit to India will develop the bilateral ties between the two nations, focusing on cultural, economic, and strategic areas. There will be discussions on regional and global matters among the leaders of both India and Indonesia.
India invites world leaders every year on the occasion of Republic Day celebrations. India didn't invite any guests in 2021 and 2022 due to COVID-19 outbreak.
