The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for hijacking the Jaffar Express in Bolan, Pakistan.
Digital Desk: This morning the Baloch Liberation Army hijacked and attacked the Jaffar Express passenger train which was carrying 400 passengers across Pakistan's Balochistan province. Militants ambushed the nine bogie train traveling from Quetta to Peshawar as a result of their attack they injured the driver and killed at least six people.
The Baloch Liberation Army hijacked 120 passengers along with nine bogies of Jaffar Express near Mashkaf, Dhadar, Bolan before killing six military personnel. The group has issued a warning that any military intervention will lead the group to execute its remaining captives.
The BLA Fidayeen Unit carried out the attack with operational assistance provided by the Majeed Brigade while the Fateh Squad together with STOS and Zirab forces, who supported the operation through intelligence and military tactics. Before the attack, the militants attacked and blew up the railway tracks with explosives to stop the train and carried the attack.
As per local sources the soldiers who worked as security personnel were going to Punjab on vacation at the time of the attack. The BLA declared intentions to attack "occupying forces" who tried to stage any rescue attempt.
The armed group BLA has reportedly taken multiple Pakistani military personnel although their exact number continues to be unclear. As of now, Pakistan Government officials have neither commented on the situation nor made any public statements except there are indications the military might intervene because of the severe circumstances.
This attack marks a significant escalation in the Baloch insurgency, further intensifying tensions in the region. The Pakistani government faces an imminent obligation to react swiftly while facing an extremely high threat to the captives.
