UK leadership candidate Sunak promises to establish "energy sovereignty" By 2045 in the Country

One of the top three contenders for the UK PM race, Rishi Sunak, declared his desire to see the nation achieve energy independence by 2045.

Digital Desk: In response to the supply shock brought on by Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Rishi Sunak, one of the final three contenders to become the next prime minister of Britain, stated that he wanted to make the nation energy independent by 2045.

The need for our nation to achieve energy sovereignty to free itself from the erratic nature of the world's energy supply has never been greater, according to a statement from Sunak.

He declared that the goal would be written into the law and that a new government agency devoted solely to energy would be in charge of ensuring that it was carried out. Sunak declared he would not ease an English ban on onshore wind farms.

The former finance minister, whose resignation contributed to a widespread uprising against Prime Minister Boris Johnson, is currently leading among Conservative Party legislators.

Later on Wednesday, a final vote will narrow the field to two candidates, after which the party's rank and file members across the country will choose their new leader via postal ballot. The result is due on September 5.
