New Delhi: A year has passed since the half-day curfew that was imposed on 22 March in India after Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people to stay indoors due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in India.
The Janta Curfew was a 14-hour curfew but included few rules as well which was sportingly followed by many while few others raised their bar of following the rules. The rules were in force for every person with exceptions of essential workers and services such as police, medical services, media, home delivery professionals, and firefighters among others.
PM Modi had urged everyone to come out in the balconies of their homes in the evening time and beat their plates or clap, honouring essential workers with a show of gratitude in the light of the professionals hard toiling throughout the day, while trying to save lives.
While the curfew and show of gratitude witnessed the participation of people from every state, some bizarre and over-the-top scenes were witnessed on the roads and apartments.
Some of these moments went massively viral on social media which eventually turned into memes.
It’s been a year since that day and COVID-19 is still claiming lives, infecting lakhs of people every day and causing anxiety and stress.
On the one-year anniversary of Janta Curfew, netizens are sharing videos and memes of bizarre things that were filmed on March 22, 2020.
