Digital Desk: Taking care of your body from head to toe is our daily lifestyle routine, one of them is to keep your mouth clean and to keep a check on your breath odour. In another term, Halitosis, or bad breath, is a frequent oral health problem that can cause embarrassment and worry. It is caused mostly by sulphur-producing bacteria found in the tongue and throat.
These bacteria thrive in dry mouth, which can be caused by particular meals, smoking, poor oral hygiene, and a coated tongue.
Here's a post by Dr. Ankita Dhelia, a therapist, who explained in the Instagram Reel about foul breath and how to deal with it; Check here-
Use Floss: Flossing ensures that no food gets caught between the teeth. Food that becomes lodged between the teeth can generate smell, resulting in foul breath.
Clean your Tongue with scrapper: This occurrence is a beneficial oral hygiene habit since it removes dangerous microorganisms that can cause gum inflammation, cavities, and foul breath.
Oil tugging: Oil tugging is beneficial to gum health, dental health, dry mouth, and oral hygiene. It aids in the removal of toxins from the mouth. Dr. Ankita Dhelia advised swishing 10ml of coconut or sesame oil around in the mouth for 5-7 minutes.
Eat Fennel seeds: Chew on a handful of fennel seeds after meals to naturally freshen your breath. "The aromatic properties of fennel seeds will leave your mouth feeling minty-fresh and ready to tackle the day," the expert says.
Furthermore, the other reasons for foul breath could include tooth infections, congested sinuses, stomach infections, and intestinal dysbiosis.
Home cures to treat foul breath comprise tea tree oil, which can be mixed into toothpaste and used to brush your teeth.
The best methods for maintaining good oral hygiene include brushing your teeth twice a day, using floss or interdental brushes to clean in between your teeth each day, eating a healthy, balanced diet, avoiding added sugar, and scheduling routine checkups and preventative care appointments with your dentist.
