Digital Desk: Shweta Sharda, the Indian representative in the 72nd Miss Universe pageant in El Salvador, wore an extraordinary dress for the National Costume competition.
Shweta was seen dressed to the nines in a regal embroidered blouse and a richly decorated traditional skirt with overlapping designs. She complemented her vintage glam look with ornate golden headwear and an assortment of other enormous accessories.
The outfit she wore is by Nidhi Yasha and features an "armoured goddess look." The garment was additionally embellished with peacock-inspired embroidery.
"The outfit represents a new, resilient India, weathering storms and emerging powerful," according to the website. It represents diversity, integrity, strength, and resilience in the form of an armoured goddess.
"The power shoulders and engineered bodice highlight the feminine form's gentle yet strong disposition," Shweta Sharda captioned the photographs she posted on Instagram.
Shweta wore headgear with a lotus halo. "The lower half resembles a mystical golden peacock, India's national bird, with handcrafted peacock feather embroidery," the caption goes on to say.
The rigid upper body was offset by the flowy Organza skirt and dramatic extended trail. It was the designer's method of demonstrating how India thrives in its stunning contrasts and balances.
