The best way to break fast during this Ramadan is with curd and dates; Here's how
Dates are high in fibre, calcium, and potassium, and are not only delicious but also high in energy...

Digital Desk: Ramadan is a very meaningful month for Muslim people all around the world. During this time, Muslims observe the fasting tradition (Roza), which entails not eating or drinking water between daybreak (when they have sehri) and sunset (when they have iftar) for the entire month, culminating in joy and feasting as they gather to celebrate Eid.

"Ramadan fasting acts as an intermittent fasting regime, which helps to detox the body, prevents overeating, leads to healthy weight loss, helps reduce cholesterol, controls sugar levels, and blood pressure," said Prachi Jain, Chief Clinical Nutritionist and HOD- Nutrition & Dietetics of CK Birla Hospital, Gurugram. "It also prevents inflammation and strengthens the immune system," she added.

However, throughout this fasting phase, it is very important to ingest foods that will keep you energised throughout the day. Dates are one such widely consumed item that is not only high in fibre, calcium, and potassium but is also a pleasant energy enhancer.

Dr. Noorie, a consultant radiologist, recommended curd with dates as a healthy snack alternative during Ramadan for sweet cravings.

Have look at how having curd with dates can be healthy?

"Dates are not only rich in carbohydrates but they are also packed with nutrients and fibre, which gives the feeling of satiety and fullness," says Jain. They also promote healthy bowel movements and avoid constipation. Dates in curd are a better and more natural sugar substitute."

She went on to say that, despite being a dairy product, the curd is more digestible than milk due to "probiotic bacteria, which helps to maintain gut flora." It is not only high in carbohydrates but also high in other nutrients such as proteins, lipids, calcium, vitamin A and D, making it nutritious."

Maintain good dental health: An increase in the number of harmful bacteria in the stomach has an impact on oral health. Include this post-meal snack in your diet to maintain your gums and teeth healthy.

Both raisins and curd are high in calcium, which is good for your bones and joints. This vitamin promotes bone health by strengthening and increasing bone density.

Curd also aids in the regulation of cholesterol levels, the reduction of high blood pressure, and the promotion of weight loss.

Curd with raisins is strongly suggested for constipation sufferers.
