Know The Health Benefits of Taking a Power Nap at Work

Daytime naps can improve memory performance by up to five times.

Digital Desk: After a hefty lunch, do you regularly find yourself dozing off at your desk? You're not alone, to be sure. After lunch, feeling sleepy or having trouble in concentrating is somewhat normal. According to reports, blood flow to the small intestine increases rapidly after a person eats, and as blood is pumped into the gut to fuel digestion, a comparable dip in blood flow to the brain could provoke feelings of tiredness.  However, a little snooze in the afternoon can assist. Instead of drinking that cup of tea or coffee to stay awake, take a power nap to feel revived and renewed.

As per a NASA report, an afternoon nap improves memory, focus, and creativity. Wakefit, a Bengaluru-based firm, is proposing that its staff sleep for 30 minutes at a given hour for the sake of their health. Notably, the Right-to-nap policy allows employees to take a 30-minute break from their work. The statement was made on Twitter by Chaitanya Ramalingegowda, co-founder of Bengaluru-based start-up Wakefit. co. "A Nasa study showed that a 26-minute short nap can boost performance by 33%, while a Harvard study reveals that a nap can reduce burnout," he stated.
