Cuttack: A lawyer in Odisha who had been struggling financially due to the Coronavirus pandemic and Lockdown started selling vegetables to make ends meet. The lawyer had also approached the Odisha State Bar Council (OSBC) for financial help but his pleas fell on deaf ears.
Sapan Kumar Pal said he decided to sell vegetables as he wanted to send a strong message. “Besides, this way we want to send across a message to the state bar council that if they continue to delay in providing financial assistance, we will have no option but to sell vegetables,” he said.
Pal said in April, the council had announced that it will provide help to advocates who have been practising for over 10 years from Odisha State Bar Council Advocates’ Welfare Corpus Fund.. Even after 2 months, no help was provided to the advocates.
