The Chilshankar fish is a rare species and has never been seen by the fishermen before. It looks like a flying ship.

On Monday, the huge black fish was caught in a trawler owned by a man from Orissa. People and local tourists had gathered to see the huge Chilshankar fish.

Due to its weight, the Chilshankar fish could not be moved. In fact, the fish was so heavy that ropes were used to move it from one place to another.

Catching the fish in the net is nothing less than a lottery for the fishing team during lockdown as they have been struggling to make a sale.

It was later tied with ropes at ends and carried to a van by some local fishermen. The van was then taken to the Mohana Fisher’s Association.

After being brought to the market, the fish was auctioned in the wholesale market at Rs 2100 per kg. The total price of the fish is now more than Rs 20 lakh.

Ajirul, a local fisherman said, “This is Chilshankar fish. It weighs 800kgs. The market price of this fish is Rs 2100 per kg. We have never seen such a big and rare fish.”

The fish scale and oil is used in making medicines and the rest of the body serves as a delicacy during the monsoon season.

After all, selling a fish at this price itself is nothing less than a lottery amid the coronavirus outbreak.
