41 child labourers rescued from toy factories in Delhi
In the course of the operation, 12 factories on Ram Bagh Road in Azad Market were sealed.

Digital Desk: The Delhi Police and some NGOs in a joint operation rescued 41 children from toy factories in Delhi's Azad Market. Arvind Rana, SDM Kotwali Darya Ganj, the Labour Department, Bal Vikas Dhara, Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi's Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA), and a police force commenced the operation late on Tuesday.

In the course of the operation, 12 factories on Ram Bagh Road in Azad Market were sealed. The Bara Hindu Rao Police Station has filed FIRs against the proprietors of the factories. When they were saved, the 13 to 17-year-old children had no shoes and were wearing torn clothing.

They allegedly had to work every day from 9 in the morning till midnight. Once the work was finished past midnight, everyone slept in the same room because they did not have enough food or even an appropriate place to sleep. The kids are from West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar.

After being saved, medical officer, CDMO, Nabi Karim performed a preliminary medical examination on each saved child. The kids were eventually brought in front of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), and then they were moved to a shelter home.

In his order, the SDM said that the employers had broken the JJ Act, the Bonded Labour System Abolition Act, and the Child and Adolescent Labour Act. He instructed the police to file First Information Reports (FIRs) under the Bonded Labour Act, Child Labour Act, JJ Act, and Trafficking Act against the employers.

The BBA team has conducted two significant rescue operations in the national capital in less than ten days. 14 juvenile labourers from Delhi's Naraina were rescued last week during a joint operation by the BBA, SDM Delhi Cantonment, Labour Department, and a police force.
