Digital Desk: (AAP) chief and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal is scheduled to arrive in Guwahati on Sunday (April 2), along with Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann.

Kejriwal and his Punjab counterpart will arrive in Assam today to boost the morale of the party's workers, with the underlying goal of solidifying AAP's position in the northeast as a genuine alternative to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Reportedly, Kejriwal will land at the Borjhar airport at around 1.30 p.m. today. He will address a public gathering in the city, for which preparations have been continuing for some time.

The AAP state unit organized a press conference on Friday to address his tour of the state ahead of his visit. According to the AAP's state unit, this will be a turning point in Assam's political history.

During a press conference here in Guwahati, members of the AAP Assam unit stated that both chief ministers Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann will make important statements that could shake the state's political scene.

"Our party members are working tirelessly day and night to ensure that the state has a corruption-free administration; April 2 will be a turning point in Assam politics," said Kamal Medhi, Joint Coordinator, AAP Assam.

Two days earlier, Dr. Bhaben Choudhury, the state coordinator of AAP Assam, had urged Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to look more closely at some of the problems faced by the city dwellers.

Meanwhile, on March 31, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, called AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal a "coward" and challenged him to speak against him in public.

Speaking to reporters, CM Sarma stated, "I haven't filed any cases as of yet. Is there any legal action ongoing against me across the country? I wanted to file a defamation suit, but Arvind Kejriwal, like a coward, spoke inside the Assembly. So let him come to Assam on April 2nd and claim there is a case pending against Himanta Biswa Sarma. I'm going to file charges against him immediately."

"I challenge him to produce a single case against me. Which charges are made against me? Let him come on April 2 and say one negative thing about me, such as "I'm corrupt," and then I'll file a defamation case. I did the same thing with Manish," CM Sarma said.
