Digital Desk: The body of Shraddha Walkar, who was allegedly murdered by her live-in-partner Aaftab Poonawala, was cut up into pieces with a saw, an autopsy of her bones has revealed.
Last month, a DNA test confirmed that the bones that alleged killer Aaftab Poonawala led the police to Mehrauli's forest area and in Gurugram were Shraddha's.
Traces of blood found in their apartment also matched hers. The test was carried out using DNA samples from her father.
The autopsy of the bones was conducted at the national capital's All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS).
Aaftab Poonawala is accused of killing Shraddha Walkar on May 18 at their Mehrauli rented flat after an argument. He had chopped her body into 35 pieces and dumped them across the city over several days.
According to reports, the saw and blade used to cut up the body were thrown in the bushes in Gurugram, while the meat cleaver was dumped in a garbage in south Delhi.
The crime came to light gradually after her father went to the police in their hometown in Maharashtra sometime in October.
Vikas Walkar, her father, had not communicated with her since he was upset over her interfaith relationship with Aaftab Poonawala. The couple met on a dating app and lived together for a few months in their hometown, Vasai in Mumbai before moving to Delhi in May last year.
The 28-year-old has been in judicial custody since November last year. The Delhi police are expected to file a chargesheet in the case later this month. Aaftab had previously informed a Delhi court that he had killed his partner Shraddha Walkar "in the heat of the moment," according to reports.
