His original question was about the Hindu community's exclusion from the 'Svalambi Sarathi Scheme,' which provides a 50 percent subsidy on commercial vehicles to religious minorities with an annual income of less than Rs 4.5 lakh.
The Karnataka government, led by the Congress party, has accused Chaudhary of disseminating false information regarding the subsidy scheme. The programme intends to aid religious minorities, such as Muslims, Christians, Jains, Buddhists, Sikhs, and Parsis, in purchasing commercial cars.
Priyank Kharge, Karnataka's Minister of Information Technology and Biotechnology (IT/BT), criticised Chaudhary's reporting as premeditated and malicious and warned of legal action.
Kharge's warning to the news anchor is part of the Congress government's new fact-checking policy, which is intended to combat the circulation of incorrect information that could disrupt state peace and concord. However, according to government officials and official papers, the subsidy scheme predates the Congress regime.
About the Subsidy Scheme:
Beneficiaries of the 'Svalambi Sarathi Scheme,' who have been authorised for bank loans to acquire autorickshaws, goods vehicles, or taxis, are eligible for a 50% subsidy of up to Rs 3 lakh. Eligibility is based on religious minorities, being between the ages of 18 and 55, and having an annual income of less than Rs 4.5 lakh.
However, Applicants are not allowed to get benefits from any other Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation Limited scheme in the previous five years.
The scheme had been in place before the new government took office, with funds set aside for religious minorities to purchase small commercial cars. Adequate money was made available for this purpose under the leadership of previous Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
