Air Force Day 2021: Indian Air Force celebrates 89th foundation day

Today marks the 89th Air Force Day. The Indian Air Force is proudly celebrating this occasion with enormous zeal and fervor across the Air Force bases in the country.

Like every year, a ceremonial parade was organized today at the Hindon Air Force Base in Ghaziabad. The parade paid tribute to the heroes of the 1971 war against Pakistan. Besides, it also honored the recipients of the prestigious Param Vir Chakra.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has conveyed his greetings to the families and the warriors of the Indian Air Force. Posting an update through his social media handle, Modi said that the IAF is synonymous with courage, diligence and professionalism.

Further, he added that the IAF troops had distinguished themselves by defending the country and through their humanitarian spirit during times of challenges.

Similarly, President of India Ram Nath Kovind stated that the nation is proud of its Air Force, which has proven its capability during peace and war.

Air Force day is celebrated on the 8th of October every year. It is observed as the foundation day of the Indian Air Force, inaugurated in 1932 as a supporting force of the British Royal Air Force. This special day is also dedicated to the sacrifices and courage of the Indian Air Force.

Besides, it also aims to generate awareness about the Air Force as an organization to uphold its people's national security and safety.
