    Ambulance carrying chopper crash victim's mortal remains meet with an accident

    Chennai: An ambulance carrying the mortal remains of the victims of yesterday’s Coonoor Chopper Crash, met with an accident, minutes after a police van escorting the bodies met with an accident. The minor mishap was reported near Mettupalayam today.





    The bodies were being taken by road from Madras Regimental Centre (MRC) in Wellington in Coonoor to Sulur air base when the two accidents occurred.

    This resulted in a minor delay as the ambulance, which suffered minor damages in the front portion, was stopped.





    The accident occurred about 45 km from Sulur air base.





    The bodies were shifted to another ambulance and taken to Sulur air base from where they would be flown to Delhi by a special IAF aircraft for the last rites.





    Locals helped in shifting the bodies to another ambulance who came to the spot within minutes on receipt of information.
