Kolkata: Trinamool Congress leader Saugata Roy slammed Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma by calling him 'Turn Coats' (Dal Badlu).
The reaction came from Roy right after CM Sarma remarked against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. On Sunday, CM Sarma said that he would welcome Mamata Banerjee by rolling a red carpet.
While speaking to ANI, Roy said, "I give no importance to his words. He is a 'dal badlu'."
"He became Assam Chief Minister by replacing Sarbananda Sonowal, who is a very nice man. Moreover, Sarma left congress because Tarun Gogoi became Chief Minister, which disappoints him."
Further, pointing to the CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, Roy asserted, "Under the present government no citizen is secured in Assam. Assam police personnel died in the Assam-Mizoram dispute, Dimasa rebels kill truck drivers. He should look after his State and shouldn't comment on West Bengal."
"TMC will definitely go to Assam, definitely," added Roy.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Mamata Banerjee's possible visit to Assam, mockingly commented that he would roll out the red carpet for her as it will benefit the BJP from her visit to the State.
"The more Mamata Banerjee visits Assam and Tripura, the more BJP party will be benefited as the votes will be divided between Congress and TMC." said Assam CM on Sunday during his visit to Siliguri.
Further, Roy questioning CM Sarma's statement, asked, "What he wants to mean by saying that if Mamata Banerjee gets more votes in Assam, it will have benefited the BJP party?"
"It will divide the Bengali and Muslim vote bank, but he shouldn't be complacent," added Roy.
Roy, further stressing the number of votes in Assam, said, "In future, TMC will do well in Assam, we will get Bengali votes, Assamese Hindu votes and also the minority votes."
