    Digital Desk: As the BJP inches towards a historic victory in the Gujarat Assembly elections, incumbent chief minister Bhupendra Patel is expected to take the oath of office again on December 12, said party sources on Thursday.


    Notably, Patel began his political career in municipal bodies of Ahmedabad before being elected to the Gujarat Legislative Assembly in 2017 representing the Ghatlodia constituency. In September 2021, he was named Gujarat's chief minister to replace outgoing CM Vijay Rupani.


    According to the most recent figures from the Election Commission, the BJP is ahead on 150 seats, with the party having won five so far. The Gujarat Assembly has 182 seats, with a party requiring 92 seats to claim a majority and form the government in the state.

    Meanwhile, in the 2017 assembly elections, the Congress party fought hard against the ruling BJP. However, AAP may spoil the game for Congress this time by taking away a big 


    As counting continues in Gujarat, Congress is leading in 18 seats and AAP in 6 seats, as per EC data at 2.15 pm.
