Bird Flu Threat: 25,000 chickens to be killed near Mumbai
Digital Desk: The people of the state currently witness the scare of bird flu after 100 birds were found dead. On Friday, Thane District Magistrate and Collector Rajesh J Narvekar conveyed that 100 birds were discovered dead at a poultry farm near Mumbai, in Vehloli village of Shahapur tehsil in Thane.

The samples collected for the bird flu were transported to a lab in Pune because of the possibility of avian flu.

He further stated that 25,000 birds within a kilometer radius of the afflicted poultry farm would be destroyed within the following four days.

The district's animal husbandry department has been asked to conduct infection-control measures.

Avian influenza, sometimes known as bird flu, is a viral infection that affects birds (especially wild waterfowl such as ducks and geese). Wild birds can carry the virus and transfer it to chickens through their feathers or excrement without showing symptoms.
