Digital Desk: In West Bengal, a 40-year-old man was beaten to death by his neighbour after failing to repay a Rs 500 personal loan. The incident occurred on Sunday in the Gangaprasad Colony area of the Bamongola police station in Malda district.
Banmali Pramanik, the deceased, was said to have borrowed Rs 500 from his neighbour Prafulla Roy. Pramanik failed to return the money within the time frame specified, causing a schism with his neighbour and frequent brawls.
Roy went to Pramanik's house on Sunday evening and demanded the money. He looked for Pramanik, who he found at a local tea shop after he couldn't find him. Roy begged for money in vain. He began thrashing Pramanik with a bamboo cane after he was unable to retrieve the cash. "My brother was sitting with his friends at Gangaprasad colony when Roy came and started beating him," the deceased's brother, Ajay Pramanik, explained.
Witnesses also claimed that Pramanik was hit on the head and collapsed. He did, however, regain consciousness and walk home." Banamali began vomiting blood the next day, and he was taken to the local Mudipukur hospital. He was then referred to Malda where he was declared dead on being brought," his brother informed.
The body was recovered and taken to the mortuary at Medical College Hospital for autopsy. The deceased's family has filed a written complaint against the accused with the Baman Gola police station. The accused has been identified and arrested, according to Bamongola police.
