New Delhi: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) that conducts board exams promised to take action after finding an "inappropriate question" in a Class 12 question paper.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) further stated that they would take strict action against the "responsible persons".
"A question has been asked in today's Class XII Sociology Term 1 exam. This question is unsuitable and in breach of the CBSE guidelines for external subject specialists for setting question papers. CBSE concedes the error made and will exercise strict action against the responsible persons," the board announced in an official statement.

The question asked regarding the 2002 Gujarat riots. It had asked which party was in power when the riots took place in the state.
The question read, "The unprecedented scale and spread of anti-Muslim violence in Gujarat in 2002 took place under which government?"
The answer section provided four options, including- "Congress, BJP, Democratic, Republican."
Later, the Central Board of Secondary Education tweeted that it had acknowledged the error.
