Central Government should hold talks with Taliban: Asaduddin Owaisi

Hyderabad: President OF AIMIM and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi says that the central government should hold talks with Afghanistan regardless of India recognizing the Taliban or not in a series of tweets and also talking to the media later. He said back in 2013 he had already advised the government to talk with the Taliban but he was criticized at the time.

“US withdrawal from Afghanistan was inevitable. As early as 2013, I’d advised govt to open diplomatic channels with the Taliban to secure our strategic interests. We’ve made $3 billion in investments in Afghanistan. But no one paid heed & now what’ll the govt do? He tweeted.

“In 2019, I reiterated my concerns regarding the unavoidable truth about Afghanistan. While Pakistan, the US & the Taliban were holding talks in Moscow,

@PMOIndia was counting the number of times he hugged Trump. We still don’t know what govt’s Afghanistan policy is,” He further added.

“Whether or not India recognizes Taliban, govt will have to open channels of communication” This isn’t something that’s out of the blue. As usual Narendraji’s govt seems to be out of its depth. It starts acting only when a crisis is at the doorstep,” He continued.

He also said India should have talked with the Taliban on the issue of International Security, but the BJP-government has completely failed to understand whats going on in the last seven years

Owaisi also mentioned that Indian Spent USD 3 billion on the reconstruction of Afghanistan as it constructed the building of the Afghan Parliament which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015 and the Salama Dam was built using India’s money and Afghan students who came to India were also given scholarships.
