New Delhi: On Saturday, the Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen landed in the national capital for a three-day visit to India. She was given a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi. Prime minister Narendra Modi was present on the occasion to welcome the leader. This is the very first visit of Frederiksen to India. Besides, this is also the first visit of a head of a state since the coronavirus restrictions that took place last March.
As part of her visit, Frederiksen engaged in a bilateral talk with PM Modi at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Saturday. The focus of the same revolved around a range of topics like climate change, agriculture, health, renewable resources, management of water, and so forth. According to reports they also signed four agreements in order to strengthen the partnership between both the sides in the field of science and technology, climate change, and skill development.

In a statement to the media, Prime Minister Modi said that the discussion between both the leaders was ‘fruitful’. Further, he stated that they deliberated on the growth and improved cooperation between the two sides on varied sectors. Besides, he also added that they also examined the progression of the India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership which was established a year before during a virtual meet between both the countries.
Reacting to the occasion, Frederiksen, on the other side, said that Denmark considers India as a close partner. She also added that this visit should be seen as a milestone for the bilateral relations between both the nations.
External Affairs Minister of India S Jayshanker also expressed his warm greetings to Prime Minister Frederiksen. He said that the Green Strategic Partnership between India and Denmark will advance further as a result of her visit.
As part of the visit, Frederiksen will also be meeting the think tanks, students, and members of the civil society.
Additionally, she will also be taking part in a bilateral meeting with President Ram Nath Kovind.
Denmark and India are two strong trade and investment partners. Over 60 companies from India are operating in Denmark. Similarly, over 200 companies from Denmark are also present in India.
